August at the Cottage
There’s not much happening, so here are a few random pictures, including some from a hike at Nature Areas 1 and 2 at Trent University in Peterborough.
Cottage Creatures
A heron, four carp, a Muscovy duck and a hummingbird – all on one May day at the cottage.
Spring Flowers
These pictures of spring flowers were taken at Rosetta McLain Gardens in Scarborough. It is a beautiful place to people watch (especially wedding parties having their photos taken), look out over the lake, or simply look at flowers – as the bench plate attests. Now that summer is here and the temperatures are soaring, it is nice to look back on lively rather than wilted flowers.
Hostas Galore
I love the texture of hostas. These lovely specimens were found at Rosetta McLain Gardens in Scarborough in May. I had to lie on the ground to get them – nobody seemed to blink an eye.

Here are some photos from our first day at the cottage – spring-like weather.

The next day of March Break we went to Presqu’ile Provincial Park where there is a beach strewn with bird bones; sounds morbid but it makes for an interesting subject.

The third day, the lake ice returned having been blown in from the other side of the lake. It was quite bizarre but it didn’t last long. The weather continued in its spring-like direction.

Last day – spring again. The buds are even pushing through the ground. I hope winter doesn’t return for their sake. A lot of these pictures are taken of leaves in puddles.
