Welcome back for the second week of school!

Mon. Sept. 10: Assignment #1 – Self-Reflection

Today we began the first assignment. You would have received 4 questionnaires, the assignment sheet and rubric, and a large format placemat. We will work on it in class on Monday and Tuesday. Interviews with Ms. Gluskin will begin Wednesday, continue Friday and the week after.

Tips:

Always read the rubric or marking sheet of any assignment you get.

In the case of our assignment #1 you’ll notice that communication is being marked. We we had a few mini grammar reminders:

  • always write in complete sentences (subject + verb + period).
    • I write. (yes, this is a complete sentence).
  • do not write in run-on sentences – use a conjunction (such as ‘and’, ‘or’, ‘but’) to connect two sentences, or use a period to create two sentences.
    • Today I write tomorrow I read. This is a run-on because it is really two sentences strung together.
  • do not write in all capital letters (we can’t see if you’re using capital letters correctly when you do this)
    • HOW CAN WE TELL IF YOU’RE USING CAPITAL LETTERS CORRECT IN CANADA?

Tues. Sept. 11: Assignment #1 Completion

Finish your placemat and get ready for your interview with Ms. Gluskin.

Begin using the GLS Log Sheet to PLAN the non-GLS work you will do in class.

Wed. Sept. 12: Numeracy

Ms. Pandurevic gave out a numeracy package to students.

Thurs. Sept. 13: Academic Orientation

Grade 10s will attend. Grade 9s will go to room 135 with Mr. Bryant. They can work on GLS work or other work. They MUST log it on the log sheet.

Fri. Sept. 14: Daily Habits and Long-Term Goals

GLS_Habits_Goals

worksheet to be completed.

Since it is Friday, please complete your log sheet. This week will be for practice, but next week the log sheets will start COUNTING toward your application mark.

HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND!
